2 dead in SUV-delivery truck smashup

CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela â€“ Two persons died and two others were injured in a vehicular accident involving a Sports Utility Vehicle and a delivery truck on the national highway in Barangay Nungnungan 2 here before dawn on Friday, May 17.

Police Staff Sgt. Manuel Angoluan Jr., case investigator, identified the fatalities as Nicky Miguel Pardo, of Barangay District 3, Cauayan City, and Kenneth Sigua, of Enrile, Cagayan, SUV passengers.

The SUV reportedly encroached the lane and hit the delivery truck driven by Rodolfo Guado, 58, of Barangay Villa Luna, Cauayan City. The SUV continued moving and plunged into a rice field.

Pardo, Sigua, Arnel Labadia, SUV driver, and Manny Alfaro, another SUV passenger, sustained injuries.

Rescuers took them to a hospital where Pardo and Sigua died.

Labadia and Alfaro are in stable condition, Angoluan said, and Guado is under police custody.
