According to Ynares, a 60-year-old woman named Merilyn Grande was looking for her son identified as Rey, who was reportedly missing after going to his aunt's house where he was asked to buy something at the nearby store. However, her son failed to return home after that.
Grande said her son is a PWD suffering from mental delay due to epilepsy.
Antipolo City's Public Information Office (PIO) received a report that someone saw Rey in Sitio Hinapao in Barangay San Jose and immediately contacted Grande about his whereabouts.
"Na-interview na si nanay nang may biglang tumawag sa telepono ni nanay. Ang tumawag sa kaniya ay ang City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) staff natin under Social Protection and Reforms for Children and families at-risk on the Streets (SPARCS) upang ipaalam na nasa atin si kuya Rey (We have already interviewed his mother when suddenly, our CSWD staff under the Social Protection and Reforms for Children and families at-risk on the Streets called her informing her that her son is now in our custody)," Ynares explained.
It turns out Rey was found in Barangay Macamot, Binangonan Rizal by a barangay staff. They brought him to Antipolo City Hall to seek assistance.
"Napansin naman ng mga CSWD personnel natin ang nakadikit sa pader sa gilid ng kalsada, na naroon ang larawan at pangalan ni Rey. Kaagad nilang tinawagan si nanay Merilyn na nagkataong nasa City Hall din pala (Our CSWD personnel also saw the missing person papers attached by Rey's mom at the side of the road containing his photo and contact details. They immediately called Merilyn who was coincidentally at the City Hall as well)," the mayor said.
Mother and son were reunited at the City Hall.
