Style Weekend: Adriana Lima wears Filipino design nail art

Could this be the next nail art trend?

Our fashion statement doesn’t end with our clothes and makeup; it extends to our nails. But lately, something shiny and new has caught our eyes: the unique and striking nails worn by supermodel Adriana Lima and fashion icon Bryan Boy.

Believe it or not, a proudly Pinoy beauty company, the New Lounge, made this nail art possible for these two fashion icons. In a conversation with its president and CEO, Rachelle Bravo, Style Weekend found out that this in-house exclusive design is called “Aurora Nail Art.”

“New Lounge is known to offer exclusive eyelash extensions designs, and this time, we decided to expand into nail services. Aurora Nails is a first-in-the-market and New Lounge exclusive nail design that draws inspiration from the captivating Aurora Borealis’ show of colors,” Rachelle tells Style Weekend. “Meticulously crafted, your nails will radiate brilliance in a color-shifting design that effortlessly stands out in any crowd.”

This design was first offered in the lounge’s branch in Los Angeles, so Lima and Bryan Boy were able to try it first. The good thing is that the company is now making this service available in the Philippines. Among the first ones who tried it locally were international model Jessica Yang and influencer Patricia Prieto.

If you want to give it a try, you can opt for acrylic nail extensions or simply do it on your natural nails. With its intricate design, it takes a couple of hours to have it done, but the wait is worth it—it seems like you are wearing the dazzling lights of Aurora Borealis on your nails.

“We noticed that people with bold personalities really like this nail design. Since our Aurora Nails is such a scene stealer, our clients who wear this design usually project a daring statement,” Rachelle says. “It can also be customized according to our clients’ preference and mix and match different chromes to create their own unique color spectacle.”

With fashion icons wearing these designs, this could be the next trend in nail art. But apart from Aurora Nails, the current trends are also into the “Clean Girl Aesthetic,” also known as the Russian Manicure, as can be seen in various K-dramas stars and even celebrities such as Hailey Bieber.

“Clean Nails is an extension of women’s simple elegance. This emphasizes thorough nail preparation to guarantee that your nails are in their best conditions, fully embodying the clean girl personality,” Rachelle explains. “Clean Nails use polish colors in neutral or sheer shades of nudes and pinks to perfectly match the natural tint of the nails.”

Regardless of the nail art design you choose, it's crucial to prioritize the health of your nails, just like you would with your skin. Avoid using your nails as tools to prevent damage, and remember to keep your hands and cuticles moisturized for optimal nail health.

If you want to try any of these nail art trends, especially the Aurora, you can visit any New Lounge branches.
