Cops net P2.8-M shabu in Bacolod buy-bust


BACOLOD CITY – Police arrested a couple and suspected shabu worth P2.8 million was seized in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Tangub here on Thursday, May 16.

Police withheld the names of the suspects, live-in partners aged 42 and 32, pending the filing of the case.

Police Major Eugene Tolentino, head of Police Station 8, said the man was the subject of the operation and was part of the station’s drugs watchlist.

He was also tagged as the No. 8 provincial target-listed drug personality of the police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

Tolentino said the couple was considered high-value individuals due to the huge volume of the drug recovery – 420 grams of shabu.

He said the man was previously arrested for a drug offense. 

The buy-bust operation was led by the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU)-6 in coordination with PDEA-Western Visayas and Police Station 8. 

Meanwhile, police nabbed a 41-year-old tricycle driver in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Miranda, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, May 14. 

Seized from the suspect were 30 grams of suspected shabu worth P204,000, P1,000 marked money, and a .38 caliber revolver with four bullets.

Police Major Clifford Batadhay, Hinigaran police chief, said the suspect was a newly-identified street-level individual.

The susopect was subjected to a five-day monitoring prior to the operation after police received information about his alleged illegal activity.

Drug charges and a case for illegal possession of firearm and ammunition are being readied against the suspect.

Authorities dismantled an alleged drug den during a buy-bust operation in Purok Sigay, Barangay 2, this city, on Tuesday.

Seven suspected patrons were caught and confiscated from them were seven grams of suspected shabu worth P47,600, marked money, an improvised tooter, lighters, P220, a pair of scissors, and a plastic case with drug paraphernalia.
