The Bureau of Customs (BOC) collaborated with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to seize a shipment containing ecstasy valued at P68 million.
Disguised within a box labeled as "dog food," the BOC-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) said the X-ray Inspection Project identified suspicious contents in the scanned image.
Upon closer inspection, the BOC-NAIA said a Customs Examiner discovered 13.9 kilo of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine, or ecstasy, totaling 40,389 tablets and originating from the Netherlands.
Following the interception, four individuals linked to the shipment, including the claimant, were swiftly apprehended for violating RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act) and RA 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act).
Custom Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio said the operation is part of the agency's commitment to President Marcos’ directives, vowing to remain vigilant against illicit substances entering the country.
District Collector Yasmin O. Mapa said the BOC-NAIA continues to prioritize revenue collection, trade facilitation, and border protection in fulfilling its duties.
