Suzuki showed off two new additions to its big bike lineup in the form of the GSX-8R and the GSX-S1000GX. The two bikes are designed to cater to riders seeking performance and exhilaration whether in the city or mountain roads. The bikes were unveiled at the recent Makina Motoshow at the SMX Convention Center.
GSX-8S
The GSX-8S is a naked bike with a minimalist look and features full LED lighting. It is built on an aluminum frame and a tube sub-frame platform shared with the new V-Strom 800DE. Powering it is Suzuki’s new 776cc parallel-twin engine with 270° crank also from the V-Strom 800DE. The new liquid-cooled engine produces 86-PS and 74-Nm of torque.
The GSX-8R is easy for riders to enjoy with an accessible 810 mm and total weight of 202 kilograms. Information is displayed on a full-color TFT multifunction display. The new Suzuki GSX-8R is priced at P679,000.
GSX-S1000GX
The GSX-S1000GX is a sport tourer that essentially blends the qualities of a superbike and adventure bike. The GSX-S1000GX is based on the GSX-S1000 series but with longer suspension for a more comfortable ride and added versatility. Its styling features sports bike cues with a comfortable upright riding position. It is powered by a 999cc liquid-cooled, four-cylinder engine paired to a six-speed constant mesh manual gearbox.
Making it accessible for a wide variety of riders is the inclusion of vital software. One of these is the Suzuki Advanced Electronic Suspension (SAES), which electronically controls the suspension damping and preload according to vehicle speed, road surface conditions, and changes in posture caused by the brakes.
It also comes with the Suzuki Road Adaptive Stabilization (SRAS) program, which detects uneven road surfaces and automatically switches the suspension control amount by incorporating SAES with data from the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and other sources. This helps it return a smooth ride with reduced vibration on unpaved roads. On paved roads, it returns sportier performance.
Finally, it also gets SDMS-α for management of power characteristics, traction control levels, and SAES damping settings, as well as the Motion Track Brake System that can activate ABS even when leaning into corners. This well-rounded crossover model allows riders to easily master high levels of intelligence and performance, regardless of the situation, road conditions, or riding experience.
The Suzuki GSX-S1000GX is priced at P969,000.
Burgman Street new colors
Besides the two new big bikes, Suzuki also took the opportunity to introduce new colors to the Burgman Street lineup. These colors are Candy Summer Red (for the Standard variant) and Metallic Matte Platinum Silver (for the EX variant). These vibrant additions cater to riders who value style alongside functionality.
