Siquijor-Dapitan Tourism Connectivity launched


CEBU CITY – The local government units of Dapitan City and Siquijor province strengthened their partnership by launching the Siquijor-Dapitan Tourism Connectivity in Siquijor.

Dapitan Mayor Seth Frederick Jalosjos and Siquijor Gov. Jake Vincent Villa, who led the launching on Tuesday, May 14, in Siquijor, agreed that the partnership will boost the tourism sector of their local government units.

“I want to extend my sincere appreciation to the province of Siquijor for its invaluable partnership in enhancing tourism and connectivity,” said Jalosjos.

Jalosjos said his administration envisions a strong collaboration that will be instrumental in promoting Dapitan, Siquijor, and Bohol as a premier tourist destination.

Jalosjos said a vibrant tourism will benefit both residents and visitors alike.

“Through our combined efforts, we expect significant improvements in connectivity and infrastructure, marketing and promotion initiatives, and visitor experiences. This partnership has not only boosted our local economy but has also strengthened our community bonds and achieved greater milestones together,” said Jalosjos.

Villa emphasized that Siquijor has a lot to offer from tourist destinations and attractions to traditions and cultural activities while discovering historical preservation systems. 

The governor also announced that Siquijor will start to operate its  commercial airport this year which can greatly boost tourism in the province. 

Villa thanked the local government and private sectors of Dapitan for supporting the partnership.

He assured that his vision is aligned with Jalosjos' as he expressed confidence that the partnership will pave the way for exchange of tourism best practices.

The 70-man Dapitan delegation included its tourism officer Apple Marie Agolong. 

“Success in tourism can only be best achieved in working together, that in tourism we do not compete, rather we integrate and compliment,” Agolong said.

Prior to the launching of the tourism connectivity, Jalosjos and Villa, together with Rep. Zaldy Villa, graced the launching of Kasambahay party-list headquarters in Siquijor.

Jalosjos, Gov. Villa, and Rep. Villa aired support for the party-list by raising the hand of its chairman Atty. Chembeelyn Alpeche Balucan.
