PRO 4-A unfazed by dismissal of case vs police major over Camilon disappearance

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna – Police Regional Office 4-A chief Police Brig. Gen. Paul Kenneth Lucas announced the dismissal of the kidnapping and illegal detention complaint filed against Police Major Allan de Castro who was linked to the disappearance of beauty pageant contestant and teacher Catherine Camilon last year.

Assistant Regional Prosecutor Rogelio Radoc Jr., in a resolution dated April 16, 2024, dismissed the case filed against De Castro.

Lucas said that the resolution was duly received by the Camilon family on May 15.

Radoc said evidence was insufficient to elevate a case against the respondent in court.

The case is not over yet for Lucas.

“While we deeply respect the judicial process, we also empathize with the concern raised by the dismissal of the case,” he said.

“We in PRO 4-A, together with the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, will exhaust legal remedies and thoroughly explore all available avenues to pursue justice for Catherine and her family.”

Lucas acknowledged the importance of transparency and accountability throughout this process. “We pledge to keep the public informed on the progress and outcomes of the case.”

“We firmly believe in the fundamental principle that every individual deserves for treatment under the law," Lucas said. “We are resolutely determined to deploy all necessary measures to uphold this principles and ensure that justice is served for everyone involved.”
