The Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) issued a warning regarding the popular trend known as the "bill reveal challenge" circulating on social media.
In a statement, Meralco emphasized the potential risks associated with sharing electric bills on social media platforms, as it could expose the personal information of their customers.
Meralco has specifically warned the public against revealing their Customer Account Number (CAN), stressing the criticality of protecting such sensitive information.
"Meralco underscores the importance of refraining from sharing CAN and other confidential information present on your Meralco bill, as scrupulous individuals could exploit these details," the company said.
"We urge everyone to exercise caution in what they share on their social media profiles. Meralco places high value on safeguarding the personal information of our customers," it added.
