The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said a “dangerous” heat index of 47 degrees Celsius (°C) was recorded in Sangley Point, Cavite on Thursday, May 16.

Thirty-four other areas also reached dangerous heat index levels.
PAGASA recorded a heat index of 46 degrees Celsius (°C) in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro.
It was followed by heat index of 45°C in Dagupan City, Pangasinan; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Roxas City, Capiz; and Zamboanga City, Zamboanga Del Sur.
The heat index reached 44°C in NAIA Pasay City, Metro Manila; Science Garden Quezon City; Bacnotan, La Union;Coron, Palawan; Iloilo City, Iloilo; and Dumangas, Iloilo.
Meanwhile, Sinait, Ilocos Sur; Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; Iba, Zambales; Clark Airport, Pampanga; Baler, Aurora; Alabat, Quezon; Cuyo, Palawan; Virac, Catanduanes; Catarman, Northern Samar; Catbalogan, Samar; Guiuan, Eastern Samar; Dipolog, Zamboanga Del Norte; and Cotabato City, Maguindanao, a heat index of 43°C was felt.
A heat index of 42°C was recorded in MMSU, Batac Ilocos Norte; ISU Echague, Isabela; Ambulong, Tanauan Batangas; Daet, Camarines Norte; Masbate City, Masbate; CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur; CMU Agromet, Musuan, Bukidnon; Davao City, Davao Del Sur; and Butuan City, Agusan Del Norte.
