Farmers' Weekend Market opens in Sumulong Park, Antipolo

Antipolo’s farmers can now sell their organically grown products during weekends at the Sumulong Park.

The promenade park beside the city hall and the Antipolo Cathedral will showcase the products which are cultivated and harvested by the farmers in the upland villages in the city.

From avocados to rice to green leafy vegetables and several fruits in season, the produce is organically-grown without the use of harmful chemicals and pesticides.

The Farmers’ Weekend Market will open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Sumulong Park.

The office of Mayor Casimiro ‘Junjun’ Ynares III said the weekend market has been a project of the city government that aims to assist the local farmers, mostly from upland villages.

Other products on sale at the weekend market are fresh harvests of peanuts, vegetables, fruits such as papaya, guyabano, bananas, and even cashew nuts.

The weekend market for farmers opens as the city celebrates the Maytime Festival 2024 in time for the pilgrimage season, the period of the year where thousands of devotees perform their annual pilgrimage to the city to pay homage to the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage, whose 17^th century image is enshrined in the International Shrine of the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage, otherwise known as the Antipolo Cathedral.
