Farmer hacked to death over old grudge in Cagayan

RIZAL, Cagayan – A farmer was allegedly hacked to death by a fellow farmer over an old grudge in Barangay Gaggabutan West here on Monday, May 13.

Police Major Sherwin Viernes, town chief of police, identified the victim as Bitoy, a resident of Barangay Illuru Norte, Rizal.

Viernes said the victim and the suspect, Nito, a resident of Barangay Nanauatan, Rizal, were having a drinking session in a makeshift hut owned by Daryl when an old grudge turned up.

A year ago, Bitoy allegedly hacked and injured the suspect with a bolo.

Nito was incensed and took a bolo and hacked the victim several times.

The victim was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead. Nito surrendered to the police.

Viernes said the suspect is facing a murder case.
