Cops nab another suspect in journo's slay attempt in QC
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) announced on Tuesday, May 14, the arrest of another suspect in the ambush of a photojournalist and his relatives which left them wounded and one minor dead in Barangay Masambong, Quezon City on June 29, 2023.

The QCPD identified the suspect as Jomari Campillo, 25, a resident of Makati City. He was tagged as the No. 9 most wanted person in District Level.
It said that Campillo was first arrested on July 14, 2023, for violation of R.A. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), but he was released after posting bail.
Campillo's arrest on Tuesday was made by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by Branch 86 of the Regional Trial Court (RTC) in Quezon City for frustrated murder for his involvement in the shooting incident that wounded Joshua Abiad, an online photographer of Remate.
Cases of murder and three counts of frustrated murder were also filed against his cohorts for the crime that also resulted in the wounding of Abiad's relatives, including the death of his four-year-old nephew.
On June 29, the victims were ambushed by five men while they were inside their car along Corumi Street, Barangay Masambong, at around 3:50 p.m.
On July 7, 2023, the QCPD successfully arrested another alleged suspect in the crime, who was identified as Eduardo Almario Legazpi II, tagged as a "professional shooter" by the police.
Meanwhile, police said that Campillo is now under the custody of the QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU).
