A policeman and a tricycle driver were feted on Tuesday, May 14, for the immediate apprehension of the suspect.
Cantilan Bank-Buenavista Branch Manager Herbert M. Peligro and the Police Regional Office-13 led by Police Brig. Gen. Kirby John B. Kraft awarded a Certificate of Appreciation to Police Staff Sgt. Niño I. Gonzales, assigned to Buenavista Municipal Police Station (MPS), and a cash reward to the tricycle driver for their achievement.
Gonzales responded to the robbery at around 2:30 a.m., PRO 13-Regional Public Information Office chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer said.
A witness, the tricycle driver, helped Gonzales and other responding police officers by providing vital information that led to the capture of the suspect from Buenavista, Ometer said.
Kraft lauded the swift response of the Buenavista MPS.
“The swift action is an example of the effective and efficient implementation of the S.A.F.E Caraga where Caraga cops should be Seen, Approachable, Felt, and Efficient (SAFE).”
“This incident underscores the invaluable importance of immediate police response and investigation as well as the cooperation of the public which led to the arrest of the suspect,” he said.
“The courageous act of a citizen (the tricycle drive) who bravely stepped forward and provided the vital information is truly commendable.”
