At least two China Coast Guard (CCG) vessels tailed the convoy of the “Atin Ito” coalition near Bajo de Masinloc (Scarborough or Panatag Shoal) on Wednesday night, May 15.
The first one, CCG ship with bow number “4109” was monitored at 6 p.m. just as the civilian convoy was around 50 nautical miles away from Bajo de Masinloc, progressive group and coalition-member Akbayan Party said.
The second one was CCG “4108” which sailed closer to the convoy.
Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) vessel BRP Bagacay protected the contingent, according to Akbayan Party.
“Atin Ito contingent will continue with its course,” the coalition said.
Earlier in the day, the coalition successfully installed floating markers and distributed provisions, including fuel, to Filipino fishermen at 14 nautical miles off Palauig Point in Zambales.
