BACOLOD CITY – Two persons were killed and another was injured when two vehicles collided in Barangay Talubangi, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on Tuesday, May 14.

Police identified the fatalities as John Philip Atillaga, 25, of Cauayan town, a rescue aide; and motorcycle driver Reymark Cagas, 28, of Kabankalan City.
Police Capt. Joelan Vinson, deputy chief of the Kabankalan City Police Station, said that Cagas reportedly overlapped on the lane of the rescue vehicle owned by the local government of Cauayan, resulting in head-on collision.
Due to the impact, Atillaga was pinned in the vehicle while the rescue vehicle driver and the patient were unharmed.
Injured was Cagas’ backrider Romel Bacolod, 35, of Kabankalan City.
Vinson said the local government of Cauayan has reached out to the victims’ families for an initial settlement.
