Village dad slays robber in gun battle

CANDELARIA, Quezon – A man was killed and his companion was wounded in a shootout with a barangay councilor after they allegedly robbed a house in Sitio Pulo, Barangay Bakal Norte, this town, before dawn on Monday, May 13.

Police identified the fatality as Aldrim.

Investigation said five individuals, Nor-en Macmod, Gina Rabilo, Saira Mindeg, Arnia Modin, and Norayma Yamani were inside the house of 37-year-old agent Zhennie Gonzalez, 37, when Aldrim and his companion Rommel, 21, arrived, forcibly opened the back door, and robbed the victims of cellular phones and P900 cash.

Gonzalez sought assistance from barangay councilor Ricardo Escamo who chased and shot the suspects after they fired at him Sitio Mayapyap.

Escamo hit Aldrim who died on the spot from a bullet wound. Rommel was also wounded and taken to the Candelaria District Hospital.

Escamo sustained a bullet wound and was taken to a hospital.
