Sharks founder Hadley Mariano understands how hard it is for a billiard player to find golden opportunities with limited resources and platforms available here in the country.

“Definitely, they will have their own contract and they will have their own salaries, especially what they’ll have is ‘yong training, professional training talaga,” Mariano said COO in Tuesday's PSA Forum presented by San Miguel Corporation, Philippine Sports Commission, Philippine Olympic Committee, Smart/PLDT, MILO, and ArenaPlus.

“Yong gagawin natin para sa mga players para mas umangat pa ‘yong tira nila to professional level,” he added.

SBA will help cue artists who don’t have enough funding to compete internationally and provide them with proper training to further enhance their skills.

“Mabubuhay sila sa salaries nila, makakalimutan nila ‘yong mga money games sa labas, kasi ‘yon nga gusto nating mangyari eh,” Mariano continued.

Veteran sports journalist Chino Trinidad, the league’s commissioner, stressed that they wanted to ignite the popularity of the sport here in the country.

“Kulang na tayo sa appreciation of the sport (billiards), kasi nga na-stigmatize ang sport because of its association with gambling,” Trinidad said.

“Naniniwala ako na collectively, maiibangon natin muli itong Philippine billiard,” he added.
