Schoolboy drowns in Ilocos Sur

CAMP PRESIDENT QUIRINO, Ilocos Sur – A schoolboy drowned in the sea of Barangay Daclapan, Cabugao, this province, on Sunday, May 12.

Police identified the victim as Justine, 7, a Grade 1 pupil of the Daclapan Elementary School and resident of Barangay Daclapan.

Investigation said the victim and five other children decided to swim in the sea after playing basketball.

The victim continued to swim after his companions left. 

His companions returned and saw him seeking help and taken away by the strong current.

He was retrieved and taken to the hospital where he was declared dead.

Police reminded parents living in the area to look after their children while they are swimming in the sea.
