Mandaluyong City's traffic enforcers get summer uniforms amid heat wave

The Mandaluyong City local government on Monday, May 13, distributed additional uniforms to its traffic enforcers that will help alleviate the discomfort brought about by intense heat.

Mandaluyong City Mayor Ben Abalos, together with other city government officials, led the turnover of the new "summer uniforms" to City Traffic and Parking Management Department (CTPMD) head Alex Santos.

Each set of summer uniform includes a white dry-fit long sleeve shirt, blue shorts, blue shoes, and a hat.

This uniform may also be used by the enforcers even after the summer season.

On May 2, the 16 cities and lone municipality in Metro Manila started implementing the adjusted working hours of 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. in a bid to help address the traffic congestion problem in the National Capital Region (NCR) and give respite to workers from the extreme heat.

Metro Manila Council (MMC) President and San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora said there are more than 100,000 LGU employees who will be traveling to their work places an hour earlier than regular commuters and motorists during rush hour.

The adjusted work hours also limit the city employees' time under the sun, which reduces their risk of being adversely affected by the heat wave.
