ILOILO CITY – The Department of Education is extending psychological-social intervention following the recent death of a Grade 10 student in Maasin town, Iloilo province.
“The Child Protection Committee (CPC) is set to conduct psycho-social interventions for affected peers and teachers,” said the DepEd-Central Office in a statement.
The DepEd-Division of Iloilo is set to finalize the psycho-social team this week.
Leonil Salvilla, DepEd-Division of Iloilo spokesperson, said trained personnel from DepEd-Division of Iloilo are facilitating the team for the public high school.
The team will be composed of the principal or school head, guidance counselors, teachers, a parent representative, and a student representative.
“But the actual implementation may be after the student’s burial,” Salvilla said on Tuesday, May 14.
He said that Dr. Ernesto Servillon Jr., DepEd-Division of Iloilo superintendent, has met the family of the student and assured the agency is on top of the situation.
Salvilla appealed to the public to refrain from making assumptions as investigation on the incident is ongoing.
