Converge to deploy free Wi-Fi service in more airports
Converge ICT Solutions, Inc. said it will deploy more of its free Wi-Fi services in other airports nationwide following its successful launch in all four terminals of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
"Every month in the next six months, we will be rolling out in the remainder of the contracted airports," said Converge Chief Commercial Officer Benjamin Azada in an online media briefing on May 14.
The timeline given by Azada indicated deployment of the free Wi-Fi in the Bacolod-Silay International Airport by June and Iloilo International Airport by July.
In August, Converge's wifi is expected to be available for travelers in the Mactan-Cebu International Airport and Tacloban City Airport (or Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport).
Launches are also scheduled at the Pagadian Airport and Zamboanga International Airport, both located in Zamboanga del Sur, by September and November respectively.
The telco is also aiming to deliver the free Wi-Fi service to the Laoag International Airport in Ilocos Norte by early 2025.
"We're pushing very hard for this, and we want to provide Converge connectivity to all our travelers, both local and international," said Azada.
Last April 18, Converge launched its public network at Terminals 1 and 2 of NAIA. Previously, it deployed the Wi-Fi in Terminal 4 in July 2023, and Terminal 3 in November last year.
Once connected to the network, travelers and visitors at the NAIA terminals can enjoy up to two hours of free Wi-Fi. Converge subscribers with GoFiber accounts can get six more hours of free internet for five devices, while Surf2Sawa users can get six hours for two devices.
It also launched the free Wi-Fi service at the OFW (Overseas Filipino Workers) Lounge at NAIA Terminal 1 in January this year.
