What started as a simple teaser on their Facebook Live four years ago, Ben&Ben's new single, "Comets," comes at the right time as a gift for their fans. This latest release tackles the fleeting nature of lost love.

During a recent roundtable interview with the band at the Liwanag House in Ortigas, Paulo shared how the song was made during the pandemic.

"We wrote the song back in 2020 sa Ben&Ben house. And then pagkasulat nun, tinugtog namin siya sa Facebook Live namin. Ever since nun inaabangan na siya unexpectedly nung mga fans namin, pero hindi namin na feel na ayun ang perfect time to release the song," Paulo said.

(We wrote the song back in 2020 at the Ben&Ben house, and then after writing it, we played it on our Facebook live. Since then, our fans have been waiting for it unexpectedly, but we didn't feel it was the perfect time to release the song.)

Paulo said the song had different versions over the past two years until they met an Indonesian music producer, Petra Sihombing.

"Meron kaming nameet na Indonesian music producer pangalan niya is Petra Sihombing, basically siya yung nag complete nung picture that made us realize that this is the perfect time to release comets, parang nag align yung mga tala," Paulo added.

(We met an Indonesian music producer named Petra Sihombing. He was the one who completed the picture, which made us realize that this is the perfect time to release comets; it seems like the stars aligned.)

Miguel, one of the song's writers, shared how creating the song made him more mature since entering his new phase as a husband and as a musician.

"Parang nung pumasok ako sa bagong phase sa buhay ko na may asawa, narealize ko ito last year lang na same pa rin naman, pero yung pananaw ko sa buhay magiiba talaga, kasi hindi na lang siya yung ikaw lang. Alam mong kabiyak ka na rin ng isang tao," Miguel said.

(It's like when I entered a new phase in my life with a husband. I realized only last year that it's still the same, but my perspective on life is different because it's not just me anymore. I know I have someone in my life in the long run.)

"Sa pagsusulat naman, marami din ako narelize na mas mature, like kuwari ang hinahanap mo sa pag-ibig dati yung kilig, pero narealize mo na hindi pala laging ganun. Kaya masasabi din namin na perfect timing ito to release it kasi kaming lahat na ang dami na namin pinagdaanan for the past four years na yun, I would say na ngayon mas mature na kami," he added.

(As for writing, I've also realized that many people are more mature. You used to think that what you were looking for in love was the thrill, but you realized it's not always like that. So we can also say that this is perfect timing to release it because we all have been through a lot for the past four years. I would say that now we are more mature.)
