Barangay tanod electrocuted while changing light bulb at home

A barangay tanod or watchman was allegedly electrocuted while changing a light bulb in his room in Barangay Mabato, Mauban, Quezon on Monday.

Police identified the victim as Bernardo Tejada, 61.

Investigation said the victim was in his room when his brother Rueben heard a noise at around 8 a.m.

Reuben did not pay attention and thought that his brother was just conducting repairs.

Bernardo’s friend Victoria discovered him sprawled on his bed at about 10 a.m.

Rescuers took the victim to the Mauban District Hospital where he was declared dead by Dr. Sade K. Satorre. No foul play was initially observed during the examination of the body.

Police said the victim might have been electrocuted while he was changing the light bulb as it turned on and off when manually turned clockwise and counterclockwise.
