Police Capt. Joelan Vinson, deputy chief of the Kabankalan City Police Station, said that Ramirez and his companions were on their way to the new market when they crashed into the rescue vehicle of Barangay Camingawan.
Ramirez failed to see a traffic enforcer who signaled a full stop to all vehicles to give way to the rescue vehicle.
He reportedly followed the traffic light and proceeded to cross the road, resulting into a collision.
Vinson said the rescue vehicle was transporting a patient to the district hospital. The occupants of the ambulance were unharmed.
There was an initial settlement among the parties involved as Barangay Camingawan officials assured assistance to the victims’ families.
The rescue vehicle driver will be released from police custody after the 18-hour reglementary detention.
