The Premier Volleyball League will stage its first rookie draft ceremony tentatively set in July or just before its Reinforced Conference.
PVL commissioner Sherwin Malonzo made the announcement recently, saying the last four teams from the just finished All-Filipino Conference will get the best chance of claiming the first four picks.
He was referring to Strong Group Athletics, which finished 12th and last, and Capital1, Galeries Tower and Farm Fresh, which ended up at 11th, 10th and ninth, respectively.
Specifically, Malonzo said SGA would have a 40 percent chance of snaring the No. 1 pick, Capital1 30 percent, Galeries Tower 20 and Farm Fresh 10.
The No. 5 pick goes to the No. 8 team, which was Nxled, outright with the Nos. 6 to 12 picks ending up with Akari, Cignal, PLDT, Chery Tiggo, Petro Gazz, Choco Mucho and recently crowned titlist Creamline in that particular order.
The second round will start with SGA automatically getting No. 13 and the rest in that same order of picks based on their last conference’s placings.
The league will no longer allow teams to directly acquire players from the provinces or collegiate ranks just like in the past.
Malonzo said the lottery would be streamed live or televised.
