Cagayan Valley's 7th most wanted apprehended

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan – Police arrested the seventh most wanted person in Region 2 or Cagayan Valley in San Manuel, Isabela on Friday, May 10.

Police Brig. Gen. Christopher C. Birung identified the suspect as Mariano, 47, a resident of San Manuel.

Mariano was apprehended on a warrant for statutory rape, rape by sexual assault, and acts of lasciviousness issued by Judge Leif John I. Robino, Presiding Judge, Regional Trial Court Branch 23, Second Judicial Region, Roxas, Isabela.

No bail was recommended for the statutory rape case. However, a bail of P200,000 each was set for the rape by sexual assault and acts of lasciviousness cases.

The suspect is in the custody of the San Manuel police station pending turnover to the issuing court.

Birung commended the successful arrest of the suspect. "The successful apprehension of the suspect for his heinous crimes sends a strong message that justice will prevail for victims of sexual offenses. We encourage the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities,” he said.
