ILOILO CITY – The Police Regional Office-6 nabbed 391 individuals for illegal gambling in Western Visayas in April.
The suspects were arrested in 127 anti-gambling operations from April 1 to 30 and P206,000 in bet money was seized.
Police Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky, PRO-6 director, vowed to intensify the anti-illegal gambling campaign in the region which has six provinces and two component cities.
“Those who operate illegally should be continually subject of the law enforcement operations,” said Wanky.
The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), through the City Intelligence Unit, arrested 29 persons, among them a policeman, fireman, a barangay kagawad or councilor, and a South Korean. The ICPO arrested 69 people in nine operations in April.
The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) nabbed 205 persons in 71 operations, the Bacolod City Police Office, 41 in 11 operations; 17 by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) in 10 operations; 17 by the Aklan Police Provincial Office in five operations;
Sixteen by the Antique Police Provincial Office in seven operations; 15 arrested by the Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) in 10 operations; and 11 by the Guimaras Police Provincial Office (GPPO) in four operations.
