BACOLOD CITY – Nine stalls were hit by a fire at the Central Maao Market in Barangay Don Jorge L. Araneta, Bago City, Negros Occidental on Friday, May 10.

Senior Fire Officer 1 (SFO1) Rustan Sayson, supervisor of the Maao Fire Sub-Station, said that seven stalls were destroyed and two others were partially damaged.
These were sari-sari (community convenience) stores and small cafes, Sayson said.
Sayson said they received a fire call around 6:56 p.m. A fire volunteer suffered minor injuries, he added.
Damage to property was estimated at P3.8 million.
Cause of the fire is yet to be determined but arson investigators are looking into a possible electrical problem.
Fire out was declared at 8:30 p.m.
