East Metro Manila barangays pass DILG's good local governance assessment
Several barangays belonging to the eastern cities of the National Capital Region (NCR) passed the Department of the Interior and Local Government's (DILG's) 2023 Seal of Good Local Governance Barangays (SGLGB) which has been giving due recognition to the top barangays in the country.
A total of 72 barangays in NCR passed the SGLGB, with the DILG using the barangays' 2022 performance as its basis in its review and assessment. A total of 42,000 barangays in the Philippines will undergo assessment by the agency.
"Sa round ng assessment na ito, ginamit ang 3+1 principle kung saan kinakailangang maipasa ng mga barangay ang assessment sa lahat ng tatlong core governance areas: Financial Administration and Sustainability; Disaster Preparedness; at Safety, Peace, and Order. Samantala, kailangan naman nilang maipasa ang assessment sa isang Essential Governance Area (alinman sa sumusunod): Social Protection and Sensitivity; Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness; at Environmental Management (In this round of assessment, the DILG used the 3+1 principle where each barangay must pass three core governance areas: Financial Administration and Sustainability; Disaster Preparedness; at Safety, Peace, and Order. They must also pass the assessment of at least one Essential Government Area: Social Protection and Sensitivity; Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness; at Environmental Management)," the Pasig City local government said.
The East Metro Manila barangays that passed the assessment were Pasig - Dela Paz, Kapitolyo; Makati - Post Proper Southside, San Lorenzo; Mandaluyong - Daang Bakal, Namayan, New Zañiga, Old Zañiga, Plainview, Wack-Wack Greenhills; Marikina - Barangka, Calumpang, Concepcion Uno, Malanday, Nangka, Parang, Santo Niño, Tañong, Concepcion Dos, Marikina Heights, Industrial Valley, Fortune; and San Juan - Addition Hills, Salapan, Santa Lucia.
