31 areas may have ‘dangerous’ heat indices on May 12


The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said 31 areas may still experience a heat index that is considered “dangerous” on Sunday, May 12.

The heat index in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, and Aparri, Cagayan may reach 46°C, while it may reach 45°C in Roxas City, Capiz and Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

Meanwhile, MMSU, Batac, Ilocos Norte; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Cuyo, Palawan; Dumangas, Iloilo; and Borongan, Eastern Samar may experience a 44°C heat index.

PAGASA added that NAIA Pasay City, Metro Manila; Sinait, Ilocos Sur; Dagupan City, Pangasinan; Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; ISU Echague, Isabela; Sangley Point, Cavite; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur; Iloilo City, Iloilo; Catarman, Northern Samar; and Tacloban City, Leyte may have a heat index of 43°C.

Meanwhile, a 42°C heat index may be recorded in Science Garden Quezon City, Metro Manila; Bacnotan, La Union; Ambulong, Tanauan Batangas; Aborlan, Palawan; Daet, Camarines Norte; Legazpi City, Albay; Virac (Synop), Catanduanes; Masbate City, Masbate; Mambusao, Capiz; Zamboanga City, Zamboanga Del Sur; and Davao City, Davao Del Sur.
