A congressman is predicting members of former president Rodrigo Duterte's Partido Demokratiko Pilipino (PDP) and Vice President Sara Duterte's Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP) to bolt their respective parties amid the apparent campaign to malign President Marcos.
According to Deputy Majority Leader Isabela 6th district Rep. Faustino “Inno” Dy V, PDP and Hugpong members who are not comfortable with what is going on in their parties and who want to continue supporting the Marcos administration might opt jump ship to other political groups.
“Marahil yung mga miyembro ng PDP or ng Hugpong na hindi sumasang-ayon sa mga nangyayari na gustong makitungo pa rin sa banner ng ating mahal na Pangulo na unity progress for our country, then makikita natin na marahil na sila po ay kumatok sa ibang mga partido, at lumipat ng ibang partido,” Dy said in a press conference Thursday, May 9.
Perhaps the members of PDP or Hugpong who do not agree with what is happening and instead prefer to join our beloved President's unity for progress banner, we seen them knocking on the doors of other parties, and joining these parties.)
The elder Duterte is the chairman of erstwhile ruling party PDP. HNP, on the other hand, was a regional party in the far south founded by the Vice President.
Dy made hix prediction on the heels of the formalization of the alliance between the President Marcos' Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP) and House Speaker Martin Romualdez's Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats (Lakas-CMD).
Dubbed the Alyansa ng Bagong Pilipinas, the alliance is now busy consolidating its forces ahead of the May 2025 mid-term elections.

Dy said the "negative politics" being espoused by other parties could turn off PDP and HNP stalwarts and push them to join the burgeoning administration coalition.
“Dahil ayaw naman po natin ng ganitong klaseng pamumulitika e (Because we don't want this kind of politics). Negative politics at this point in time shouldn’t have a place here," the ranking solon from Lakas-CMD said.
Ex-president Duterte has emerged as a vocal critic of the Marcos administration. He is easily the most influential among the critics, thanks to his status and popularity.
While Vice President Duterte has not assailed Marcos, her presence at so-called prayer rallies that have obvious anti-administration messages have confused her fellow officials in government.
