Philippines to have cyclone-free weekend

The country is expected to have another weekend of warm and humid weather, with cyclone-free conditions persisting across the archipelago.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said in its weekly weather outlook that the dominant weather system from May 11 to 15 will be the easterlies or the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.

This weather system will bring partly cloudy to cloudy weather with chances of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, mostly over the eastern section of the country.

From May 16 to 17, PAGASA said the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) may bring cloudy weather with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Davao Region and Soccsksargen.

ITCZ is a convergence of winds from the northern and southern hemispheres where rain-bearing clouds form.

The rest of the country will continue to experience partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with possible isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies.
