Isabela 6th District Rep. Faustino “Inno” Dy V, alongside DOST-NRCP, conducted a series of comprehensive meetings, detailed research, focus group discussions, field interviews, and assessment of the area.

Through these activities, the DOST-NRCP researchers were able to draw insights into how the locals wanted sustainable tourism to be implemented.

The results of this research served as inputs to the development of the Barangay San Miguel Sustainable Tourism and Development Plan (STDP) 2023-2033, according to DOST-NRCP.

The department explained the STDP that includes various activities, projects, and programs of the said Brgy. as an Eco-Tourism Zone, conserves natural and environmental resources, and engages local communities towards inclusive development.

Through the project, DOST also said the Barangay Tourism Code was also crafted and submitted to the municipal council. These include standards for tourism development, transportation, and human resource development for barangay tourism front liners.

Moreover, Project Leader and a member of the DOST-NRCP Social Sciences Division Jame Monren Mercado assured that the team’s commitment will not end at the turn-over of the printed output, but “extends to providing services and guidance during the implementation of the plan.”
