BFP: 117 lots available for construction of new fire stations

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is looking to build new fire stations in 117 land lots nationwide in collaboration with the respective local government units (LGUs) to enhance their firefighting response and capabilities.
However, the BFP explained that this will only push through “provided there are no setbacks with all requirements prior to building.
"We can expect the building of fire stations in these places at the soonest possible time," the BFP said in a statement on Saturday, May 11.
The fire bureau also noted that it has procured 262 units of 1000-gallon fire trucks in 2023 which are appropriately specced to meet the current demands of today’s firefighting and disaster response in the country.
“Fifty-one fire stations were also built last year, making the coverage of fire protection services wider with only 110 municipalities out of 1,845 (5.96 percent) do not have fire stations that are still waiting for new fire stations for building,’’ the BFP noted.
Further, the BFP assured that all fire trucks, 20 years old and above, will undergo “re-fleeting with new fire trucks.’’
“The combined procurement for the remainder of 2023 and 2024 are 118 1000-gallon fire trucks, 60 500-gallon fire trucks, 74 Type-1 ambulances, automatic external defibrillators, among others,’’ the BFP added.
