3 PUV drivers die from heat stroke in Pangasinan

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – Three Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) drivers have died due to heat stroke in Pangasinan.

Bernard Tuliao, president of One Pangasinan Transport Federation, said two of the fatalities were members of their group plying the Calasiao-Dagupan route. The third was serving a route in the eastern part of Pangasinan.

Tuliao said the first fatality died in April from high blood pressure due to the high heat index.

He said that they have extended financial aid to the families of three victims.

This province, particularly in Dagupan City, had been experiencing a high heat index ranging from 45 to 49 degrees Celsius.

The One Pangasinan Transport Federation is considered the biggest local transport group in Region 1 (Ilocos) with about 6,000 members.
