33 areas experience 'dangerous' heat indices on May 1


The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that 33 areas experienced "dangerous" heat indices on Wednesday, May 1.

PAGASA recorded heat index of 48°C in CBSUA-Pili, Camarines Sur, and Catarman, Northern Samar, while 46°C in Dagupan City, Pangasinan and Bacnotan, La Union.

In Iloilo City, Iloilo, heat index of 45°C was recorded.

Meanwhile, heat index of 44°C was also recorded in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte; Aparri, Cagayan; Iba, Zambales; Baler (Radar), Aurora; Cubi Pt., Subic Bay Olongapo City; Virac (Synop), Catanduanes; and Dumangas, Iloilo.

In NAIA Pasay City, Metro Manila; Sinait, Ilocos Sur; Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; Sangley Point, Cavite; Ambulong, Tanauan Batangas; Alabat, Quezon; Coron, Palawan; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Aborlan, Palawan; Legazpi City, Albay; La Granja, La Cariota, Negros Occidental; and Zamboanga City, Zamboanga Del Sur heat index of 43°C was recorded.

Heat index of 42°C was also recorded in Mambusao, Capiz; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Calapan, Oriental Mindoro; Infanta, Quezon; Casiguran, Aurora; ISU Echague, Isabela; Itbayat, Batanes; MMSU, Batac, Ilocos Norte; and at the Science Garden Quezon City, Metro Manila.
