1 die in Cagayan passenger jeepney plunge


ENRILE, Cagayan – One person has died among the 43 individuals who were injured after a passenger jeepney plunged into a drainage canal in Barangay Roma Norte here on Sunday afternoon, April 28.

Enrile Mayor Miguel B. Decena Jr. said that Rogin Tapiru, 30, a resident of Barangay 2, this town, succumbed to serious body injuries while undergoing treatment at the Cagayan Valley Medical Center here.

Twelve victims, including a pregnant woman, are still confined at the Cagayan Valley Medical Center.

The Malasakit Center of Sen. Bong Go and Decena have extended assistance to the victims.

Mechanical defect and overloading were suspected as the causes of the accident.
