President Marcos has committed to prioritize the relocation of families living in danger zones.

Marcos said this during the turnover of National Housing Authority (NHA)- Balanga low-rise housing project to 216 families situated beside the Talisay River which is a danger area in Balanga City, Bataan.

"Ito marahil ang pinakamahalaga, lalo na para sa mga kababayan nating nakatira sa mga mapanganib na lugar (This is, perhaps, the most important, especially for our fellowmen living in dangerous areas)," the President said on Tuesday, April 9.

"Bahagi ng katungkulan natin na mailikas sila muna sa delikadong lugar tulad ng mga daluyan ng ilog (Part of our duty is to relocate them from the dangerous locations like near the rivers)," he added.

Marcos acknowledged the danger faced by the beneficiaries for years of living alongside the Talisay River. He assured them that the government will address their struggles.

“Sa loob ng maraming taon, humarap sila sa peligrong dala ng pagtira sa tabi ng ilog. Kaya narito tayo upang bigyan ng lunas ang kanilang suliranin. Sila ay maninirahan na sa sariling bahay na ligtas, dekalidad, at komportable (For many years, they have faced dangers for living near the river. So we are here to bring solutions to their problems. They will now live in their own houses that are safe, of high quality, and comfortable),” he said.

The Chief Executive also reminded the beneficiaries to preserve and maintain their new homes as they will serve as the foundation of their aspirations and better future.

He also assured that the government will continue to provide housing units to Filipinos under the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing Program.
 
Marcos said the low-rise buildings were built using new technology ensuring a durable and stable home for every family.

The housing project is composed of six three-story condominium-type buildings with 12 27-sqm. units per floor each equipped with two bedrooms, a kitchen, bathroom, waterline and electricity.

The housing program also comes with public facilities such as the four-story  school building with 20 classrooms, multipurpose building, and a covered basketball court.

To ensure the convenience of availing various services, a community center was built in the housing program where a health center, daycare center and barangay learning hub, office of the homeowner’s association, and satellite offices of local government are located.
