Hope, support, brighter future: MPD rescues over 2,300 street children, dwellers
The Manila Police District (MPD) rescued a total of 2,315 street children and mendicants from various areas of the city in just one month.

The MPD said it already conducted 391 rescue operations from March 1 to April 5 to protect children from the harsh life on the streets and to give them new opportunities.
MPD Chief Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas C. Ibay said the rescue operations are aimed at creating a meaningful difference in the lives of the children on the streets, allowing them to have hope and get support for their future.
“These accomplishments underscore our commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of every individual, regardless of their circumstances. By working collaboratively with stakeholders and communities, we aim to create a more inclusive and compassionate society where every person has the opportunity to thrive together,” Ibay added.
The MPD said the rescued children were turned over to the custody of the barangay and the Reception and Action Center of the Manila District Social Welfare (MDSW).
It added that the parents and guardians of the kids were subjected to proper counseling for them to better understand the causes of street dwellings, develop tailored interventions, and come up with a long-term solution.
