Three government facilities were partially damaged by a fire in Quezon City on Tuesday, April 9, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said.

According to the BFP, two abandoned stalls of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and a janitorial barracks of the Social Security System (SSS) were destroyed by the blaze which started at 1:35 a.m. and was declared fire out at 2 a.m.
In a TV interview, Juan Aguinaldo Quezon, a security guard assigned to the SSS building, said he saw something spark near the overpass before the fire started.
“Biglang may nag-spark doon sa may gitna, yung malapit doon sa overpass. Yung properties ng SSS kadikit niya po yung DPWH. Yun, gumapang na unti-unti yung apoy dito, papunta na dito sa barracks ng janitorial services at tsaka barracks ng guwardiya sa amin (Something sparked near the overpass adjacent to the properties of the DPWH before the inferno. It then slowly creeped towards the barracks of the janitorial services and our stall)," Quezon explained.
Arson investigators are still determining the cause of the fire and total amount of damage to property.
