6.7-magnitude quake hits Davao Occidental — Phivolcs
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) detected a magnitude 6.7 earthquake in Sarangani, Davao Occidental on Tuesday afternoon, April 9.

The earthquake, Phivolcs said, was recorded at 5:58 p.m. Its epicenter was traced 368 kilometers (km) southeast of Balut Island in the Municipality of Sarangani in Davao Occidental.
Phivolcs said the tremor, which occurred at a depth of 10 km was tectonic or caused by the movement of an active fault near the area.
Its instruments recorded the quake was slightly felt at Intensity II in Malungon, Sarangani; scarcely perceptible at Intensity I in Alabel, Glan and Kiamba, Sarangani; Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental; and City of Digos, Davao Del Sur.
While aftershocks might occur, Phivolcs said there were no expected damages due to the earthquake.
