Repower Energy Development Corp. (REDC) and the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for possible hydropower facilities in Quezon, Camarines Sur, and Bohol.
In a statement, REDC said that the hydropower unit of Pure Energy Holdings Corp. has received approval to assess the economic, financial, and technical viability for the development of small-scale hydropower plants in three of NIA's current structures.
Once construction begins, this could benefit Filipino farmers by enhancing their farm livelihood.
These potential projects will cover the river irrigation systems (RIS) in Tayabas, Quezon, Iriga City, Camarines Sur, and Pilar, Bohol.
REDC also assured efficient planning and maintenance for the projects as they already have existing company presence in these areas.
REDC President Eric Y. Roxas thanked NIA Administrator Eddie Guillen for partnering with them, stating “These will benefit the Filipino people through renewable energy that will be delivered to their households.”
