The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) will offer free rides to all commuters in observance of the Day of Valor on Tuesday, April 9.
In an advisory on Monday, the MRT-3 management said veterans and the general public can redeem their free rides from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. during the day.
MRT-3 officer-in-charge and Transportation Assistant Secretary Jorjette Aquino said the complimentary service is part of the MRT’s tribute and acknowledgement of the significance of the Day of Valor.
We, at MRT-3, stand together in honoring Bravery Day, paying tribute to the courage and valor of the Filipinos who laid down their lives for our liberty. In this contemporary age, there are fellow citizens who exemplify bravery through their unwavering dedication to serving others. These individuals are our healthcare frontliners, civil servants, and employees in various industries, both locally and abroad)," said Aquino
The free ride is a symbol of appreciation and acknowledgment for those who continue to offer care and assistance to others in order to contribute to the progress of our nation)," he added.
The announcement came after the MRT-2 announced on Wednesday, Apr. 3, a week-long free ride service for veterans and their companion in celebration of Philippine Veterans’ Week from April 5 to 11.
Veterans only need to present their valid identification card from the Philippine Veterans Affairs Office.
The Light Rail Transit Line 2 earlier announced that it would offer free rides to veterans.
