Laborer drowns in La Union

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union – A construction worker drowned while swimming in the sea in Barangay Carlatan here on Sunday, April 7.

Police said the victim, Edison Hidalgo, 39, a resident of Purok 2, Barangay Mameltac, this city, was reportedly drunk when he was taken away the strong current.

Hidalgo was recovered and taken to the hospital where he was declared dead.

Meanwhile, a delivery helper was rescued from drowning in the swimming pool of a beach resort in San Juan, La Union, on Sunday.

The victim was identified as Jomar Ordanza, 46, of Barangay San Vicente, Asingan, Pangasinan.

Ordanza, who was reportedly drunk when he drowned, was taken to a hospital where he is recovering.
