At least 35 former construction workers finally received their unpaid claims from their company through the government's Single Entry Approach (SEnA) Program, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said on Monday, Apr. 8.
In a statement, DOLE said the construction workers received a cheque worth P824,916.20 as payment for unpaid 13th month pay and for illegal dismissal.
The group of construction workers earlier sought the DOLE assistance as they said that their job dismissal resulted in financial difficulties and stress.
Labor and employment officer Ronjohn Daniel Lopez, who managed the conciliation-mediation of both parties, said the assistance of the electronic SEnA portal, DOLE-NCR successfully aided the workers in obtaining their final wages as well as indemnity pay.
The two parties appeared on their face-to-face conference and signed a quitclaim and release form in the presence of Lopez.
Lopez said the DOLE’s SEnA Program provides an impartial, speedy, and accessible settlement procedure that helps both employers and employees settle disputes.
