Face-to-face classes in 25 towns, cities cancelled in Pangasinan due to extreme heat

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Twenty-five towns and cities cancelled face-to-face classes on Monday, April 8, as extreme heat continues to linger on this province.

These are:

Aguilar – All levels

Alcala – Preschool to senior high school

Basista – Preschool to senior high school

Bautista – All levels

Health officials in this province have urged the people to be cautious of heat stroke and heat exhaustion due to high temperature.

The elderly, young children, and those with underlying health conditions are at risk due to extreme heat in the province, Dr. Cielo Almoite, Provincial Health Officer I, said.

Almoite said some individuals may experience dizziness, weakness, and excessive sweating, which are signs of heat exhaustion.

“If left untreated, it can progress to heat stroke, a life-threatening condition,” she said.

The health official advised the people to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water regularly.

Wear loose, breathable clothing, and utilize fans, air conditioning, or cool baths to lower body temperature, she added.

Dr. Anna Ma. Teresa de Guzman, head of PHO, advised limiting outdoor activities during peak Sun hours. “Avoid direct sunlight between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.,” De Guzman said.
