The 35-year-old Cray clocked 50.18 in the men’s 400m hurdles for third place behind top finisher David Kendziera of the USA (49.65) and second placer Yeral Nunez of the Dominican Republic (49.69) in the six-man event.
He was then followed by Nigerian Rilwan Alowonle (50.82), Jamaican Marvin Williams (50.83) and Japanese Tatsuhiro Yamamoto (51.56).
The Olongapo pride currently holds the Philippine record in 400m hurdles and 100m.
Cray, the undisputed king of 400m hurdles in Southeast Asian Games with six straight titles under his belt, sees the competition as a springboard to qualify for the Paris Games after missing the Tokyo edition.
The entry standard in his pet event is set at 48.70 seconds.
