SAF commando wounded in clash with communist rebels in Camarines Sur

Elite police commandos clashed on Saturday, April 6, with suspected communist rebels in Ragay, Camarines Sur, which resulted in the wounding of one member of the Special Action Force (SAF).
SAF director Maj. Gen. Bernard Banac said Police Corporal Jayson Jalvez was immediately treated after he was hit on the left hand during the firefight in Brgy Agao-ao, Ragay town at around 11 a.m. on Saturday April 6.
He said the clash erupted when members of the 5th Company, 9th Special Action Battalion chanced upon around 15 communist rebels. The gun battle lasted for 15 minutes.
Banac said his men recovered M16 magazines loaded with 5.56 ammunition, a .45 pistol, improvised explosive device components, and other personal items left behind by fleeing communist rebels.
He said hot pursuit operations ensued and an investigation will be conducted to determine the identities of the suspects for filing of criminal charges.
