The local government of Caloocan City has started to administer vaccines against Human Papillomavirus (HPV) to children, on Saturday, April 6.
The HPV is a disease that causes skin infections that can lead to cancer in the cervix, anus, and oropharynx.

The city government advised children, especially females ages 9 to 14 years old, to be vaccinated to strengthen their immunity and to prevent the disease in the future.
Immunocompromised persons are also vaccinated.
HPV infections are generally transmitted due to sexual interactions with an infected person.
“Maraming-maraming salamat po sa CHD para sa pagsusulong ng programa na ito upang siguraduhin ang kalusugan ng mga kabataan (Thank you very much to CHD for promoting this program to ensure the health of young people),” Mayor Along Malapitan said.

Tandaan po natin na mas magandang maiwasan na ang mga komplikasyong dulot nito kaysa ma-infect at hayaang lumala (Parents, it is good that our children can be vaccinated while they are young so that their resistance against HPV will be stronger as they grow older. Let's remember that it is better to avoid the complications caused by it than to get infected and let it get worse),” he added.
The city mayor assured the residents that the vaccines are studied, made, and confirmed to be safe by experts.
We will always ensure the welfare of Batang Kankaloo in the implementation of our projects and programs),” he said.
